The Vineyards

Tinwood’s vineyards are situated in West Sussex at the foot of the South Downs national park.

The South Downs protect the vineyard from the North and East while importantly the sea, 5 miles away, keeps much of the frost away early in the season. The farm has a unique micro climate where it is in the rain shadow of the Isle of Wight meaning that our area is repeatedly awarded the sunniest place in the Great Britain (1,902 hours in 2011)

The farm’s soil is particularly stony with a layer of chalk ranging from 2 meters to only half a meter under the surface in places.
